Q: Why does the chrome coating become thinner shortly after installing the anode?
A: The main reason may be insufficient electrolysis efficiency caused by a small mesh opening area or insufficient effective anode area. To improve electrolysis efficiency, additional lead anodes can be installed on both sides, or the titanium mesh anode can be replaced with a suitable mesh size.
Q: Why does the anode surface show peeling or coating detachment before reaching its expected service life?
A: One possible reason is that the titanium substrate is not made of TA1 pure titanium. Some lower-grade titanium materials may contain recycled materials or impurities. During operation, impurities such as Fe ions may cause severe electrochemical reactions, resulting in coating damage or peeling.
Q: If the platinum coating is completely consumed, can the anode be recoated with a new platinum layer?
A: In theory, recoating is possible, but it is not recommended. The original platinum coating needs to be removed by sandblasting before recoating, which may reduce the thickness of the titanium substrate. In addition, insufficient surface preparation may affect the bonding strength between the new platinum coating and the titanium substrate.
