In corrosive environments including acid, alkali, chloride-containing liquid, seawater and electrolyte, Grade 1 titanium plate has a much lower corrosion rate than stainless steel and carbon steel.

- Carbon steel: Its annual corrosion rate reaches 0.1–0.3 mm in neutral salt water, and perforation and leakage usually occur within 1 to 3 years.

- Stainless steel: It is prone to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-containing environments, with a service life of generally less than 5 years.

- Grade 1 titanium plate: It is barely corroded in most acid, alkali and salt solutions, with an annual corrosion rate below 0.001 mm. It greatly cuts down the time and cost for equipment maintenance and replacement.
